Mae Wang National Park - One day trekking

We will take you on a fantastic one-day trek with the guides of Maewin and Family in the northern area of Mae Wang National Park, bordering Doi Inthanon National Park, about 1,5 hours south of Chiang Mai. This area is known for its green rolling hills, Karen tribal villages, and waterfalls. Trek through local villages, rain forest and visit three waterfalls along the way. You will even visit a hidden jungle beach for a refreshing bath! The friendly and knowledgeable guides of Maewin and Family Trekking will make sure that you will enjoy this hike to the fullest. Growing up in this area and as Karen tribal members, these guides are a wealth of information about the forest and tribal culture.

The hiking distance is between 12 - 15 kilometers depending on the weather conditions and season. We recommend a medium fitness level for this tour; motivated beginners are welcome.

Children younger than 7 years of age will get a 50% discount.

Itinerary & Practicalities

Price: 1400 THB

  • Pick up from your hotel between 7:30 – 8:00 AM

  • Drive to the trekking office to register.

  • Leave the trekking office around 8:30 and drive approximately 1,5 hours south of Chiang Mai to our trekking destination.

  • Trekking for 5 - 7 Kilometers through remote jungle terrain with fantastic views.

  • The guide will prepare lunch while you enjoy bathing at a waterfall.

  • After lunch, we continue trekking for another 6 - 8 Kilometers, passing Karen Tribal villages, waterfalls, beautiful nature, rice paddies, and scenic views.

  • Drive back to Chiang Mai.

  • Return to your hotel between 5:30 and 6:30 PM

It's possible to add one hour of Bamboo rafting on the Mae Wang River for 300 Baht per person. Please select this option on the booking request if you would like to do this. Note that the hike will be only 6 - 8 kilometers if you choose this option.

Included in the price: Transportation, English speaking guide, lunch, fresh fruit, National Park entrance fees, and insurance.

What to bring: Small backpack, bottle of water, tissue paper, walking shoes, bathing suit, towel, money to buy drinks, insect spray, sunscreen, and a rain jacket in rainy season.
